Nostalgia is big business these days. Seems like as the first decade of the new millennium approaches its end, we’re all harking back to our salad days. Heck, even Ultravox have reformed (say it ain’t so).
It’s no different for the residents of Peverel retirement homes across the country, albeit their decade of choice came some thirty years before the New Romantic movement: less shoulder pads and yellow eyeshadow, then, and a bit more stiff upper lip and cinched-in waists.
To celebrate this wave of feel-good nostalgia, and create a publication that would actually warrant being read rather than cast aside gathering dust. As part of our complete revamp of Peverel’s community magazine we wove in a 1950s theme throughout.
A scrapbook feel combined with features, stories and letters from some of the 65,000 residents within Peverel’s community resulted in a rather nice looking magazine that reads as well as it looks, and is light years away from your standard, patronising and ever-so-dull publication aimed at ‘the older generation’. Just spiffing.
