Now the snow’s all melted, and usual British winter misery has returned, what on earth do we do with ourselves?

The coffee shops are shoulder to shoulder, or at least Phil and Ted’s to Phil and Ted’s.

The youth are demanding the next generation games console or squirreled away twittering in cyberspace.

The older generations are holed up in gated retirement communities.

Families may inhabit the same house but might as well inhabit different worlds.

Even the great British pastime of shopping doesn’t seem as much fun anymore in these Crunchy times.
